Staying with similar colours and Crafter’s Companion products, I thought that I would share this pretty little pop up card. There is a bit of card construction,some stamping, die cutting and colouring but no heat gun ! So,before making the pop up part, here’s what the outside of the card looks like.

There are probably three parts to this tutorial: Preparing the card;Preparing the embellishments and Assembling the elements on the inside and outside of the card. I really enjoy colouring and  I spend a bit of time before each project deciding on a colour palette. I love  warm pinks, reds, yellows and purples and as with other projects I started this one with consideration of patterned papers for inspiration. I then chose the inks and pens to tone in with the colours.

 

To make this project you will need Centura card in cream and Sheena’s stamping card.

This is from Sheena’s Perfect Partner range, where the dies match the stamps. I have also used rectangle pin dot nesting dies from Tattered Lace.

The pop up dies on the left are from Stampendous.

I used alcohol markers in groups of pinks, greens and browns. I highlighted the art work with Spectrum Noir sparkle pens and a black fine liner.

So, where to begin?

Card Construction

Cut a piece of centura card in cream 4.5′ x 11′ (outer) and a piece of white stamping card 4’x 10.75′(inner). Fold both in half. Repeat the first measurement in the patterned paper and the second measurement in the red paper.

Line the edges of the card and paper with matching alcohol markers and ink the inside edges of the centura card blank (inner) in yellow ink.

Stick the patterned paper to the inside of the outer card.

 

Take the white (inner) card and line up the pop up die in the centre and run through a die cutting machine. Do the same to the red paper.

Ink the top half of the inner white card- red pink and yellow, adding purple in the middle for a shadow.

Then take the red paper and cut the top half away apart from the lower pop out tab. Then carefully stick this to the lower half of the inner card. Stick the inner card to the outer, top half first being careful not to stick the tabs down.

Repeat the last step with a piece of purple paper cut to the same width and then die cut  the shadow shape and stick to base.

 

To prepare the outside of the card, using the nesting dies, cut graduating sized rectangles of each of the coloured papers the smallest rectangle should be  white stamping card.

Ink the white card in a similar fashion to the inside.

Stamp the shrub image in grey ink.

Highlight with sparkle pens.

 The Embellishments

Cut out all the shapes using a die cutting machine.

Ink the corresponding stamps and line up the die cut and place on top of stamp to transfer the ink.

Colour the stamped elements with alcohol markers.

Shape the small flowers with a pokey tool and the larger ones with a foam mat and ball tool. Glitter the centres with stickles glitter glue.

Add silver gilding wax to the tools.

Assembling

Front

Using tacky glue stick the small foliage elements and flowers to the basket and then mount the basket on to the inked background with foam pads.

 

Add gems to the centre of the flowers.

The inside

Stick the flower pot to the bottom tab and the largest flower to the middle tab. Poke the leaves through the opening in the pot and stick inside. Stick the leaves at the right hand side to the right tab and the smaller flowers to the remaining tabs.

Stick the tools across the shadow at the bottom.

Leave card open to dry before closing!
