Rosettes

Canvas 7- ‘Rosettes’-Desire mixed media die set from Crafter’s Companion.

Yes a little crazy… but it is number 7 and I had a deadline!! What else would you do with rosettes? (apart from rosettes)… Caterpillar is the obvious choice!!

As with the previous canvases the dies cut a range of materials and multiple layers- hence the madness!

The materials:-

To begin this canvas I thought that random ink splashes might make an interesting base shape for the caterpillar. So taking the ‘bright and beautiful’ set of Aqua tint inks and a straw I blew pools of colour hoping for drips of ink.

I cut the head, body and ‘feet’ in all three sizes of dies and ran them through the embossing folders. I cut the other shapes from Leonnie’s dies and coloured everything with the Aqua tints and Pebeo Dyna paints.

For the background I stencilled using various Sheena stencils and white texture paste. I added some extra texture using black and silver sparkle medium.

I assembled the central image.I inked over the pastes using various colours of distress inks and stamped script with black ink.

I cut a full Rosette from fabric, grey board and lace, coloured it and placed it in the corner. The sentiment was already printed on the fabric before being fussy cut by the die. I also added bakers twine.

Final touches were added in the form of Pebeo foil(cold foiling) to highlight the texture on the caterpillar . I also made antennae using wire attaching little bells on the end and ‘googly’ eyes to the face.

Mad I know, but someone had to do it!

Here’s version two:-
