Dream catchers are fabulous and provide so much scope for creativity. I’ve been hoping to do a series of projects exploring this theme. So what better place to begin than to use the elements from the Sheena Douglass Time Traveller collection from Crafter’s Companion.
Today’s mixed media canvas combines stamping, stencilling and die cutting. I wanted to combine a steampunk style with vibrant colour.
Ive also decided to enter this project into the February 2017 Craft Stamper magazine blog challenge – ‘Anything goes’
http://craftstamper.blogspot.co.uk/2017/02/take-it-make-it-challenge-february.html?m=1
The materials:
The method:
To begin I stamped cogs and feathers in versa mark ink and then heat embossed using white detail embossing powder. This, as the first layer was to create a ‘resist’ for the next layer.
The elements:
Repeat technique on the pipe die cuts, cogs and chains.
Stamp the background in black and stencil using blue distress ink.
Splatter with white and gold Aqua tints.
Stamp the feathers in black. Colour with distress ink and highlight with Dyna paint to add a little iridescence. Cut out. Die cut the little flowers, leaves and sizzix feathers and colour with Dyna paint. Assemble the elements.
Highlight parts of the background using Dyna paints. Then add words, gems and threads.
I hope you like it. Thanks for stopping by.
