Supplies

  • Foil in ‘Advent blue’ and ‘Snow flake’
  • Diorama fancy card blank in white
  • Luxury silver glitter card
  • Sheena stamping card
  • Heavy construction acetate
  • Spring/Summer sparkle pens and Leonie sparkle pen midnight blue
  • Red liner tape
  • Tacky glue
  • Collall glue gel
  • Foam tape

Other materials

  • Water spray and paint brush
  • Oval nesting dies in sizes 5’ and 5 ½’
  • White organza ribbon and navy string
  • Blue and pink bells and metal snowflake

Well it’s that time of year again when crafters go a little mad playing with snow scenes and santa’s reindeers! Here’s my contribution- The foils in blue go beautifully with snow!!

So here’s how:-

Step 1:-

Take one of the two pre- scored diorama card blank elements and cut a 5’ Oval aperture on the left hand side of the centre panel. Keep the oval. Also die cut a 5 ½’ Oval shape in Sheena card or watercolour card.

Step 2:-

Chose some corner transfers and a sentiment and while the front of the card is still flat foil using blue foil leaving a space for the bow to be added later.

Step 3:-

On the smaller oval, foil the scene on the bottom half in blue foil. Fussy cut around the top of the image.

Step 4:-

Colour the foiled scene gently with diluted blue, pink and yellow sparkle pens. Spritz the larger oval with water (wet on wet technique) and dab colour in bands across the card, making sure that there is a yellow area in the centre. Then ‘faux bleach’ a circle in this area using a paint brush, water and a piece of kitchen towel. When dry, foil the sleigh and reindeer transfer design across the moon area using blue foil.

Step 5:-

Stick the scene to the bottom of the inked background raising it up using foam tape. Then stick this to the back panel of the card blank using 3 layers of foam tape to create height. Die cut a 5 ½’ oval from the acetate and using the snow transfer design, foil this with the ‘snow flake’ foil. Stick this to the inside of the front aperture using tacky glue. Stick the diorama front and back together using red liner tape.

Step 6:-

Finally, cut a frame from the glitter card using both oval dies. Attach this to the front of the aperture and add the ribbon and embellishments to the side using collall gel.

Tip

It’s important to line the scene element up whilst the card is in the upright position before attaching the card front so that it will be viewed from the correct angle when complete.

When using the sparkle pens, use the ink from the craft mat rather than placing the pen on the artwork. This way the ink is less intense and easier to manage and water down. It goes a long way!
