This is my piece for the Mixed up mixer mag Facebook challenge. Were the challenge is to incorporate cork!
I am also playing along with creative artiste mixed media challenge 30 -‘anything goes’ http://www.creativeartistemixedmedia.blogspot.com.au/
Here is what I used:
I had a piece of left over cork from another project and my new butterfly stamp from Indigo blu had arrived so I thought it would be rude not to have a play! Also I liked the idea of using the Sheena texture die to cut the cork.
Using five colours of distress oxide inks randomly spread on a craft mat I spritzed with water and dipped a blank white piece of Sheena stamping card accross the ink and left to dry.
Using the Carabelle studio texture stamps , a script stamp from Leonie Pujol and ink blots from invisible image I stamped on top with a range of complimentary coloured ink including black. A few shreds of patterned rice paper were also stuck down .
Once dry the piece was cut to fit an 8’x8′ canvas and stuck down. The stencilling was added using white texture paste. The canvas was then spattered with white and gold paint.
The cork was cut and stuck down and a sentiment selected from my scrap mats Papertole Australia stash. This was coloured with black ink.
Finally the butterfly was made by stamping it with black stazon ink on to acetate and mixing Luscious powders with clear medium and painting onto the back. Glitter was also added before the medium dried. The stamped image was then cut out and stuck to the canvas on top of the cork and sentiment aligned to the side.
I considered adding micro heads and threads but decided that in the end this would be too busy.
Turned out nice I hope ! Xx
