Hello again my creative friends! Time for more inky experiments. Today it’s Amsterdam inks with stamps from Rubber Dance; masks from Carabelle studio and a bit of snip art. Of course there’s also a bit of distress oxide ink and a little oil pastel for good measure!
I began by using a background created from left overs after a gelli print session.
It reminded me a little of feathers so I thought why not? To begin I selected a few feathery supplies.
I wanted to have a little play with my new acrylic inks so I did some dripping; stencilling and splating.
I then stamped using distress oxide ink in different colours.
Texture and extra interest was achieved by using some ideaology tissue tape and some drywall gauze.
To build the layers and to lighten the piece I decided to heat emboss in white on to rice paper. I cut the stamped feathers out and adhered them to the work using Matt gel medium.
I painted the snip art feather with the ink and using the pebeo cold foiling technique I highlighted parts with rose gold foil.
The edges were darkened using a couple of colours of oil pastel . I highlighted and doodled using a white posca pen and blue and pink Amsterdam acrylic markers. Cord and a couple of metal embellishments were added along with a snip art sentiment which had been painted using the white ink. Finally I used the inks to create extra splatters to complete the textures.
The art work was mounted on to plum card and then into a hessian canvas.
I hope it made you smile!
