Well today is a very exciting day! It’s my first post as a design team member for Lavinia Stamps!! What a lucky girl I am! Getting to create fairy scenes is a dream come true!

I began this project by laying down some sunset colours from my new coastal cottage set of Spectrum Noir sparkle pens. I used blue pink,yellow and orange. I used watercolour card and blended the ink with water. I sprayed the card first. After I was happy with the blend I left to dry.

The  project developed further using my A4 gelli plate. I wanted to experiment with alcohol inks. I used a few of my favourite colours similar to the sky colours. I dropped the ink on to the plate, I also sprinkled some blending alcohol on top. Next I took the glow flower stamps and pressed them onto the surface removing some of the ink leaving the reverse pattern of the stamps. When dry I brayered a thin coat of Matt gel medium on top. This re activates the ink. I pulled the print on the bottom half of the page where I had created the sparkle sky. It left an interesting print!

Next I enhanced the print further by stamping the same stamps in black and aqua VersaMark ink. The large glow flower in the sky was over a light area that I had created. To emphasise the ‘glow’ I lightly coloured the glow flowers using yellow sparkle pen. This balanced the scene using the same hues as the sky.

To create depth I selected a few glow flowers towards the front to colour using acrylic ink pens. The darker flowers contrasted with the background and gave the scene dimension. I darkened the edges of the picture using water soluble crayon in black and purple.

I stamped the fairy in black making sure that her head was in a light area of the sky. This creates a focal point. I also added a shadow underneath her in the shape of her wings.

Finally I highlighted the details including the fairy using my white uni bond pen and coloured over the white using the yellow sparkle pen and of course final touches were added using stickes glitter in diamond particularly to her wings.

It definitely used a mixture of colouring products to create the effect. Why not!
