They dance in the moonlight…

Hello my friends it’s challenge time again at Lavinia stamps This month the tempting theme is ‘whilst you were sleeping’ lots of scope I think! So dust off those fairy stamps.. you could be a challenge winner!

To wet your appetite I’m very lucky to have been sent some new release stamps to play with.

Here are the new stamps:

The Wallace family

Forest scene

Skeleton tree scene

Forest so green…

For the project I used: watercolour paper; black and white card stock for mounting; versafine ink, onyx black; pebeo masking fluid; fine nib posca black pen; uniball white gel pen: dark blue and yellow spectrum noir sparkle pens; water spray; pencil; Amsterdam white acrylic ink and/ or white paint and black Stabilo pencil.

To begin I cut a DL shaped piece of watercolour card and stamped the hedgehogs roughly in the centre making sure the largest was to the front and smallest in the background. This immediately creates a focal point and perspective and draws the eye up the page. I masked the hedgehogs with the fluid and roughly drew in a path with a pencil. I then placed a moon mask to the top and painted the path with masking fluid .

Next the card was sprayed on both sides. The dark blue ink was squeezed on to the mat and brushed on not going too close to the moon mask.

The moon mask was removed and a very small amount of yellow ink added with white paint.

The sides were further darkened with the blue ink.

A larger mask was placed over the moon area and torn copy paper placed on the lower half. Splatters were added using white acrylic ink and fan brush.

A stamping platform was used to stamp the trees. Centre first then part of the stamp to each side.

Once the trees were stamped the masking fluid was rubbed off from the very top section. This removed part of the tree bases. These were drawn in by hand using a black pen in such a way so as to emphasise the path fading into the distance . The smallest skeleton tree was stamped in to some of the gaps.

The rest of the masking fluid was removed and the skeleton trees used either side of the path to create shrubbery.

The blue and yellow ink added shadow and reflection to the path. The hedgehogs were painted with yellow and redefined using the black and white pens. Shadows were added underneath the hedgehogs in blue ink with a little black Stabilo pencil and more shrubbery stamped across the front.

Finally the sentiment was stamped and part of it cut and adhered to the front.

There are lots more new designs released this weekend and are available now on the website.

I hope you join the challenge.

Happy stamping!!

Lisa xx
