‘Dream catchers’ -mixed media

I have a mixed media canvas today using some lovely stamps from Lavinia along with left overs from a gel printing session.

I’ve combined acrylic paint and ink; Stabilo pastel pencils; gel and sparkle pens ; black ink and distress oxide ink. – a real mixture!

The result looks quite stylised and reminds me of a tapestry!

I used the following stamps:

Dream catchers

Whimsical whisps

Moon

Here is how it was done .

I began with an interesting scrap where I had cleaned my gelli plate using a piece of white card. It had gold, green, purple and bronze acrylic paint which I thought would be a shame to waste!

I created a moon using a home made stencil, white gesso and gold and purple acrylic paint.

I often stamp with paint but remember to clean the stamp quickly!

Next the flower stamping in grey for placement purposes:

Colour using red acrylic ink.

Add background colour using pastel pencils.

Re-stamp the flower detail using black versa fine.

Add some foliage and some highlights to the flowers.

Finally mount on to gold and complimentary card and place on mount board.

It was an interesting result. I hope you like it!

Till next time my lovelies!

  1. wow! Lisa this is amazing hunni, thank you for the wonderful tutorial. Love to see how you create your amazing projects. love the stamps you have used too especially the foliage one and moon. Thank you for sharing love JJ xxxx

  2. Very informative. I am presently working on a large somewhat abstract piece. Not sure where I am going with it but I do want red tulips in there. I just have to remember that just like portrait work, there is push and pull in this piece too. But I might have bit off more than I can chew! I hope not! Yours turned out wonderfully.
