Today l’m sharing a project using alcohol inks and some of my favourite stamps from Visible Image.

I don’t have photographic steps today but I do have a description of how it was done:

The Stamps:

Wings of change

Live life now

Materials:

-Crafter’s Companion black and white cardstock; A3 heavy weight acetate; collall glue gel; SpectrumNoir alcohol markers, BT5;PL3;CG3

-Ranger Yupo white, 5×7 heavy stock; Alcohol ink- sail boat blue; stream;citrus;clover; gold mixitive; alcohol blending solution; alcohol lift ink pad.

-Tsukineko Versafine Clair pigment ink pads;- monarch; warm breeze; nocturne.

-Uniball signal broad white gel pen.

-Art Alchemy Sparks acrylic paint- dragons eye.

-Amsterdam acrylic ink- oxide black.

-Colourcraft brusho sprinkle it- iridescent flash.

Steps:

1. Randomly add alcohol inks, including gold fixative to the top of the Yupo paper.Spray with blending solution and allow to drip lengthwise to fill the page .

2. When dry using the large butterfly stamp from the ‘live life now’ stamp set, stamp at different angles 2-3 times including off the page using the alcohol lift ink pad. Allow this to dry and then using a clean cloth or piece of kitchen roll gently wipe to reveal the butterfly shapes.

3. Using the large patterned butterfly from the ‘wings of change stamp set and the warm breeze ink pad over-stamp where the alcohol ink has been removed.Then randomly stamp the smaller patterned butterflies using the monarch ink pad.

4. Add highlights to the butterfly outlines and trails using the white gel pen and add dots of colour here and there using the alcohol markers. Create splatters using black and gold acrylic ink.

5. Stamp the ‘transform’ sentiment from the ‘wings of change’ set along the edges of the page in both first and second generation nocturne ink.

6. When the ink is still damp gently sprinkle a very small amount of extra fine glitter on top. This will help seal the ink and create a beautiful twinkle.

7. Centre and sandwich the artwork between the acetate and alternate layers of black and white cardstock having prepared apertures using either a craft knife or large nesting dies. This will frame the picture. Adhere the layers using either glue gel or double sided tape.

8. Finally taking a scrap of inked card (purples and blues) stamp the large patterned butterfly in black and fussy cut out. Using the same ink, stamp the ‘metamorphosis’ sentiment from the same set on to white card and trim. Adhere both to the front of the artwork using glue gel.
