Dragon Spirits

October is well under way and that means a reminder of the new Creative challenge at Lavinia stamps. The theme this month is ‘All Hallows Eve’ …deliciously mysterious and magical! And there’s still time to enter!

Up for grabs this month is £40 of LS vouchers.

For inspiration I’ve opted for a scene where our lovely dragons interact like spirits in the air with Zamira their dragon queen ( what does that remind you of?! )

Here are the stamps used:

Zemira

Dragon set

Dragon verse

Tree of Faith

The steps:

To begin I decided to mix a few cosmic shimmer pixie powders for a change. They are like brusho powders but full of micra. I used a mixture of blues aqua and pinks.

I began the stamping. This time I used my Tim Holtz stamping platform because of the mica. This meant that I could stamp several times to achieve a dark crisp image.

I tore some copy paper and began to add a landscape using different colour ink pads and a make up brush. I also darkened the stamped images in the foreground using my Stabilo all pencil.

I continued to build the colour of the hills and path using distress oxide ink. This adds depth and dimension.

To bring the landscape and figures to life I added dots of bright colour using paint pens and zig stardust pens. I also stamped another dragon and some foreground trees/ foliage using parts of the tree stamp. Finally I added white highlights and shadows with my Stabilo pencil. The edges were also darkened using black ink and the poem stamped several times in dark pink down one side.

The close ups:

I hope you like it!

Don’t forget to check out the fabulous samples from the rest of the team for more inspiration and of course our friendly Facebook group

Good luck in the challenge!
