Shelter

Yes it’s that time of the month again! Time for a Creative challenge at Lavinia stamps. Congratulations to last month’s winner! Up for grabs this month is £40 of LS vouchers. The new theme is: ‘winter wonderland’. Plenty of scope for some frosty creativity!

For today’s inspiration I’m delighted to be using some of the October new release stamps now available on the website. Poor little unicorns sheltering in the snow storm!

The new stamps:

Talia

Zuri

Fern branch

Berry wreath with mini berries

Silence sentiment

The steps:

By now you will be familiar with one of my favourite background techniques: Like in the previous posts I began by creating an ink spray print. This was done by spraying a selection of ink sprays ( some with mica) on to good quality stamping or mixed media white card. Spray with water, then press a blank piece of dry card on top and pull apart. The ink will leave two prints which when dry I cut down and use as a background. On this piece I dropped white ink spray on top too.

I then stamped the unicorns- some only in part. I also blended extra ink into the sky area.

I created a snowy foreground by painting on top with white gesso I also used the gesso to stamp the fern foliage. I added shading with distress oxide inks and make up brushes.

I carried on stamping the ferns in darker coloured ink and then added the berry wreath stamp all around the edges of the scene.

I added shading under the unicorns, emphasised their Maines with a white gel pen and lightly coloured some of the berries. I used Stabilo pastel pencils to lightly colour parts of the unicorns. I also added touches of aqua iridescent ink ( lustre spray ) here and there.

I added splatters of watered down gesso for the snow, added the sentiment and some glitter glue.

Don’t forget to check out the fabulous samples from the rest of the team for more inspiration and of course our friendly Facebook group

Good luck in the challenge!

Lisa xx
