The journey

Hi there, this week is exciting for Lavinia stamps as they will be showcasing some gorgeous stamps on Hochanda TV on 22 November at 10am and 3 pm.

This is one of my samples. Yesterday I shared a winter version on Facebook and I’ve promised a tutorial for that later in the week. This summer version shows that with the same stamps and different colours the mood completely changes.

Here are the stamps:

The steps:

As usual I began using an ink spray background and stamped the focal image using a mixture of green and dark blue ink. I did this by tapping the colour mix on to the stamp.

I then stamped the tree using dark and light green ink and stamped lighter images in second generation ink towards the centre ( stamped first on to copy paper to remove some of the ink then on to the artwork for a paler image) I did this towards the centre as I knew the sun would dominate the light in the centre and affect the colour of the trees.

I also began to add some highlights to the background using soft pastels. This created a mist effect. I lightly sketched a road in pencil.

Next I painted in the sun using white gesso. I lightly coloured it in pale yellow pastel.

I then used my soft pastels again to add colour to the foreground. I tried to reflect some of the colours from the sky areas to create balance. I used my charcoal pencil to add shadows under the focal image and yellow pastel to reflect the light from the sun.

When I was happy with the colour mix I enhanced this using my paint pens. Light touches at the top of the picture to emphasis the path and more colour to the foreground. I wanted to create a loose meadow effect. Lots of dots and dashes in different colours.

Finally I stamped the sentiment across the bottom and added glitter highlights.

I hope you like it!

Don’t forget to tune in for the shows or watch on rewind. You can also watch Hochanda tv on your phone pc or tablet.

More tomorrow..
