Just chilling

Yes it’s that time of the month again! Time for a Creative challenge at Lavinia stamps. Congratulations to last month’s winner! Up for grabs this month is £40 of LS vouchers. The new theme is: ‘Snow at Christmas’. Brrrrrh!! That would be festive and a bit magical. You never know in the UK!

For today’s inspiration I’m delighted to be using some of the stamps recently featured on Hochanda TV and the very popular little Pipin!

Here are the stamp details:

Pipin

Meadow mushroom

Fairy orchid set

Seasons change sentiment

How it was done:

I must apologise I don’t have detailed stepped photos today. I will however talk you through how it was done with a few close ups.

Today’s ink spray background had gessoed hills roughly painted along the bottom.

I added shaded lilac distress oxide ink on top of the gesso to act as shading for undulating snow. Then I painted white gesso over the top again. They mixed together. White gel pen provided the highlights.

I stamped and heat embossed the orchids (twisting their stems) in white sparkle.

I added a hint of clouds -dark and light using my soft pastels. I stamped the mushroom and Pipin then created a hill underneath. I masked the larger mushroom so only the smaller one could be stamped either side. Darker ink was used towards the front and paler blue ink for the mushrooms in the distance. I added a shadow underneath them-again using my pastels and charcoal pencil.

I added dots of lustre spray ink in aqua using a small glue applicator. I painted over the tops of the mushrooms using white gesso and added grey shading with a watercolour marker. My white gel pen also added highlights to everything including the hill.

I stamped the sentiment at the top and dots of glitter here and there… of course!

Don’t forget to check out the fabulous samples from the rest of the team for more inspiration and of course our friendly Facebook group

Good luck in the challenge!
