New month, new year new decade!! Time for a Creative challenge at Lavinia stamps. Congratulations to last month’s winner . Up for grabs this month is £40 of LS vouchers. The new theme is ‘Moonlight magic’ … A theme full of possibilities!

On this New Year’s Day my moonlight project takes a peek at the Fairies and their secret New Year’s Eve party under the tree of dreams!

I used the following stamps:

The steps:

I began by creating a moon – a painted circle of white gesso. I then painted bands of watercolour around the moon – light to dark of blues and purples, mixing a little white to the colour closest to the moon. Then bands of earthy tones for the foreground.

I added detail to the moon using my soft pastels both in stick and pencil form. I used a photograph of the moon as a reference. I also added pastel to the water coloured background. I sprayed the work with pastel fixative.

I stamped the tree in black. I coloured parts with a purple watercolour marker and white gel pen .

I stamped the fairies. I inked one to the left separately as I wanted a little more space between them. I added shadows underneath and a little more pastel to the foreground . Using a stencil and white gel pen I drew circles in different sizes randomly.

I added pastel colour around the circles to create the impression of orbs and blended the colour with a make -up applicator. I added more ribbon banners using the white pen and dots of colour here and there. I used a white pastel pencil in the foreground to add light reflections.

Of course glitter made the final touches along with my sentiment.
