‘Dance in the moonlight never to be seen’

Yes it’s mid month again and a reminder for all you undecided stampers of the  Challenge at Lavinia stamps you know you want to! There are some amazing entries so far! Up for grabs this month is £40 of LS vouchers for one lucky winner. This month’s theme is ‘ Moonlight magic ’ … full of magical possibilities !

For today’s inspiration I’ve gone for a moonlit forest scene where the hares dance for only us!

I’ve used the following stamps:

Whimsical hares

Pipin

Skeleton tree

‘Forest so green’ sentiment

The steps:

For those of you by now familiar with one of my favourite techniques, I begin with a random ink spray print background. This is done by sandwiching the sprayed ink between two pieces of white card. When pulled apart two prints are revealed. I include distress oxide ink because this creates interesting patterns and opacity.

Next I enhance the print by adding yellow ink.

I created the moon by painting a circle of white gesso and using the spray ink as paint white gel pen and pencils to sketch in a rough moon pattern from a reference photo.

I used torn copy paper and inks to create a landscape.

I stamped in the trees, first in blue and later in black ink.

I stamped the hares using a combination of black and gray ink to give the impression of distance and used pastel pencils to add shadows. I also used pale blue distress oxide ink and a make up brush to add clouds across the moon and mist to the foreground.

Dashes of colour using paint pens enhanced the foreground and created colour harmony drawing the colours of the piece together. I also dabbed dots of green lustre spray for a little iridescence and stamped the sentiment. Glitter added the final touches.

Don’t forget to check out the fabulous samples from the rest of the team for more inspiration and of course our friendly Facebook group

Good luck in the challenge I hope you create your own magical scene !!
