Good times!

Hello my friends, today sadly is my final design team post for Visible Image. I have decided to free up more time to return to my love of painting. I hope to share this with you in due course. My time on this amazing team has been very special to me. I have felt very privileged to be a brand ambassador for so long. I have really enjoyed using these products over the years and cherished the friendship of my talented DT colleagues.-They really have been good times!

So for my last DT project I have had so much pleasure making this collage on canvas. I decided as a tribute to the company’s awesome stamps and stencils that I would ‘go to town’ using a load of some of my favourite things. I have mainly used left over scraps from previous VI gelli print projects.

Here are some of the products used:

Random art of kindness

Imperfection is beauty

Organics

Ink splats

Destressed

No regrets

Two tone stencil

Grate-ful stencil

The steps:

I began by priming a canvas using white gesso. I divided it into two sections and created texture for the background by using a combination of layers of acrylic paint, stencilling and then softening the stencilling with white gesso and brayering. I used the ink spat stamps and the gesso to create additional texture. As a final touch to the background I did some stamping using transparent gold acrylic paint.

I gathered my gelli prints and scraps and created a vase from collaged shapes.

I did the same using the stamps and began to create the flowers and leaves.

I cut out the flowers and set to one side. I measured where the vase was to go on the canvas and roughly stamped the stems.

I organised where the flowers and leaves where to be placed and collaged them using Matt medium.

Once it was all dry I used my stabilo All charcoal pencil to shade around everything. This is water soluble. I then used my soft pastels to add shading and shadows. I also added white gel pen highlights and stamped the sentiment.
