It’s mid month and time for a reminder of the Creative challenge at Lavinia stamps. Up for grabs this month is £40 of LS vouchers. The theme is ‘A forest gathering’ …this one is a lot of fun!
The stamps used:
The steps:
An ink spray background.
Roughly sketch the landscape.
Paint it in using white gesso.
Sponge in some colour and add more landscaping using masks.
Add some additional colouring.
Paint in the moon and start the stamping.
Add detail to the moon.
Stamp the third hare and a few final high lights to the moon.
Add in some turquoise to lift it a bit.
Begin to stamp the tree and the poppies in different colour inks.
Colour on top of the poppies for more dimension and ink around the edges.
Add Glitter and dots of paint pen for highlights.

I am amazed at your art. I have never seen any one use acrylic and gesso when stamping. Such unexpected and beautiful results. I had in my mind they couldn’t be used together. You put a lot of time and effort into your pieces and it is a real treat that you explain the journey. Thanks for sharing.

This is so playful looking. I love your work. I’m a newbie when it comes to using Dylusions Ink Sprays and I’m not having much success with them. I seem to be creating “mud” colors. What kind of paper do you use and do you have any tips for using the sprays to get beautiful results like you do? Thank you.
Hi Lisa. Lavinia stamps do a fabulous mixed media card called multifarious card. This will really help. Another tip is not to mix opposite colours on the colour wheel. Eg green and red or purple and yellow. Instead Choose complimentary colours like pinks, yellows and orange or cool colours together like greens and blues. Generally warm and cool colours don’t mix well if water based. You can also try separating the inks that make mud-placed at different places on the card but not touching.Distress oxide ink layers up well if dried between each layer. Hope that helps.
