Hello there my lovelies! I really hope you are all keeping safe and well. I’m delighted to be able to share a project featuring the adorable mini hare collection. A must have trio to go with the larger sized hares.. and great for creating perspective.

The steps:

Create a vibrant background by spraying ink on to white mixed media or water colour card. I used pinks, yellow and purple-sunset colours.

Stamp the first tree in the centre using permanent ink in dark purple. Using torn copy paper and distress oxide ink pads, start to build a landscape by gently blending the ink against the paper.

Stamp the hares using the same ink and continue to build up the landscape.

Taking a circle mask add the sun using a couple of warm coloured distress oxide inks.

Stamp two more trees at the edges of the picture and blend in some purple and pink distress oxide ink to enhance the colours in the background.

Add dimension by deepening the hills and shadows using more distress oxide ink with a fine make-up brush and some soft pastels on top when the ink is dry. A ‘Stabilo All’ black charcoal pencil is good for adding extra depth to the shadows when used dry.

Add colour and highlights to the trees using zig clean water colour based ink pens, white gel pen and gold stardust pen. It’s important to graduate the colour. The lightest colour to the sides where the sun would touch and dark shades where the shadows would be. The white and gold just touching the edges brings to life the setting sun.

Next stamp some foliage around the bottom edges using part of the tree stamp and darken around the edges using the same purple ink and a blending sponge. Go to town randomly adding dots and dashes of colour using paint pens and crayons. This creates the impression of meadow flowers and grass. It’s important to use the same colours as the background. I do this a lot in my pieces to enhance the ambient light aspect of the composition and for colour cohesion.

Finally for a touch of opulence nothing beats gold. I stamped the words using my favourite gold acrylic paint. Be careful to immediately clean the stamp thoroughly. I also added extra touches here and there using the gold stardust pen and of course glitter glue for extra sparkle!

This is a gorgeous bunny trio. Clearly two of them have found love. Gotta feel sorry for number three! Maybe he’ll find someone soon!
