Hello my friends I thought I would do something a little different today to add a little sparkle. What better way than to use sparkle ink! This type of background is slightly more intense but I’m sure the delectable mini hares won’t mind and of course a moody background is perfect for the magical Tree of dreams! This scene could either be a sunset or a sunrise- you decide.

The steps:

Add water to a piece of water colour card using a large brush. Not too much, just so that it’s damp. A tip is to do this on both sides so it doesn’t curl up. Then select a few pots of Spectrum Noir sparkle ink in purple, pink, red, yellow and green. Taking the same large brush sweep the colour across the card and let the colours bleed together. Add the lighter colours first and then add lines of purple to the top, green to the bottom. (This is called the wet on wet technique)

Dot in some dark colour lightly to the lighter areas with the tip of the brush and allow to bleed. This creates the effect of distant trees and grasses. Also while the ink is still wet in the centre using a piece of kitchen towel blot out a circular shape for the sun.

When the ink is dry stamp in the hares and a couple of trees in black ink. Using the same tree stamp upside down to stamp branches to the top of the picture.

Colour the trees using watercolour ink pens graduating the colours from light to dark. Do the same to the rope detail around the trees, this time using the more opaque paint pens.

Add the foreground details. I used pastel pencils to create the shadows under the hares and the trees; pale coloured ink pens to blot out grass and paint pens and gel pens to add dots for flowers and more highlights to the grasses.

I used red and purple sparkle pens to add the impression of tulips to the centre of the picture and the foreground. Some yellow was also added to and under the sun.

Extra interest was created to the left of the picture by stamping the words and heat embossing using bronze embossing powder.

Finally the piece was mounted and gold highlights were added using a stardust gel pen. I added more paint pen in lime green to help the lighting and of course some glitter!

I like to think given current times that my little hares were looking forward with hope to another happier day… lets hope so!
