The rescue

Hello again! I’m delighted to be back taking another opportunity to escape to the wonderful world of fairies and magical landscapes. We all a need a little distraction in these challenging times. I hope this is a welcome one. So without further ado this is the project for today.

The stamps used:

Mini hares set

Dragonfly keepers

Fairy lantern set

Seed heads

Summers ebb

The steps:

Spray yellow and pink ink on to white card. Spritz with water and press a dry sheet on top. When the sheets are pulled apart two prints are revealed. Choose your favourite.

Next create some landscaping by adding hills and a path with distress oxide ink, water soluable crayon and paint pen. I also used torn copy paper to deepen some areas.

Masking off the bottom area using the copy paper begin to stamp the seed heads to each side of the picture using first and second generation pink ink.

Continue stamping, this time the lanterns in two colours of pink ink.

Stamp the fairy in black.

Add the little hares also in black. If the background shows through colour on top with black ink or a stabilo All charcoal pencil (this is quite Matt).

Bring the lanterns and lamp to light by dampening the ink around the images with water and a brush. Blot off using kitchen towel. This creates a halo effect. Enhance further by adding yellow and white paint pen and gold stardust gel pen around the edges. Also dot yellow and white to the centres of the lanterns.

Blend in some dark pink ink around the edges of the picture.

Highlight the hares and fairy using the gold stardust pen and add shadows beneath using dark pink pastel pencil.

Stamp the seed heads in black around the bottom of the picture. Add part of the verse to the top.

Highlight and add flower details using gel pens and paint pens. Finally add glitter particularly to the fairy wings.

It looks as though the fairy is on search and rescue duty and has successfully located the lost little bunnies. We could all do with being rescued once in a while. Let’s look out for one another if we can.

Till next time…

  1. I’m curious about how you are finishing off your pictures. You always have such vibrant colors in the matted frame around them. I love it! I’m curious what kind of paper you’re using and where you get them?

    1. Honestly I have a wide variety of coloured card from lots of different companies. Gathered over many years. I just use in accordance with what might compliment the colours in the picture. My staple is black card large pieces of 12×12 if possible. Same for the coloured card. The white card for the artwork is called multifarious by lavinia stamps. But Any good mixed media card would do. Hope that helps !
