Fox den wood

Yes it’s that time of the month again! Time for a Creative challenge at Lavinia stamps. Congratulations to last month’s winner . Up for grabs this month is £40 of LS vouchers. The new theme is ‘Woodland magic’… A wonderful theme! Woodland and trees are my absolute favourite!

Here are the stamps used:

Druids Inn

Half tree R2

Half tree L2

Spring trees

Wallace family

Fox 1 Kernal

Bluebells

As a starting point for this project I used the incredibly beautiful and versatile Dreamscape papers.

To begin I stamped the fox using dark brown ink. I also created masks from copy paper for the fox and the Druid’s in tree. I placed the tree mask where I wanted the stamped image to be and used copy paper again to mask the foreground while I stamped the spring trees in the background- palest second generation ink in places to create distance. I then stamped the Druids Inn tree in place making sure to cover the fox with his mask first.

Next I enhanced the colours in the foreground using torn copy paper as a mask and sponged in different coloured inks. I coloured the main tree using colouring pencils.

I stamped the larger half trees either side in the foreground in brown and darkened the top of the main tree using green and brown ink, I stamped some branches in blue on top.

I stamped the bluebells here and there and highlighted these using paint pens. I added the shadows using pastel pencils and darkened the edges of the picture with inks.I later decided to stamp in the hedgehog as foxy looked a bit lonely!

The artwork was then mounted and glitter added to finish it off.

Good luck in the challenge!
