Dragon spell

Hello my friends, how are you keeping? I hope you are staying safe. Time is moving so quickly these days. We are past the mid month point already. So I’m here to remind you that there is still time to enter the Creative challenge at Lavinia stamps. It’s a great way to relax and maybe even win £40 of LS vouchers. The new theme is ‘All hallows eve’. I cant believe how amazing the entries are so far. The misty autumn days and darker nights really captures the imagination.

For today’s inspiration I used the following stamps:

Willow the witch

Mideela small

Bats

Spooky tree

The steps:

Today we are doing a version of the Northerns lights or the aurora borealis. To achieve this the background must be colourful. Any colourful inky scrap will do and this can be enhanced further using your favourite inks.

Using torn copy paper for the horizon line and dark ink, black or dark blue begin to add dark waves in areas. Continue to build this up allowing your favourite coloured areas to peek through. I also blended some chalk pastel to further brighten some areas and different colours of blue ink to blend in the darker areas. Make sure not to blend below the horizon line. Keep the paper mask in place.

The chalk pastels were also used in the foreground and to highlight the ‘fire’ area.

I darkened the edges using black ink.

Next came the stamping and some white splatters for the stars. I darkened the images using my black stabilo all pencil. I added some highlights using yellow paint pen.

I stamped part of the spooky tree around the edges as rough bushes rather than trees.

Finally, after the mounting, I added glitter and gold stardust pen highlights.

Don’t forget to check out the fabulous samples from the rest of the team for more inspiration and of course our friendly Facebook group

Good luck in the challenge!

Lisa xx
