Out numbered

Hi everyone I hope you are having a good day so far! I’m back with a mid month reminder of the ‘glitter and gold’ Creative challenge at Lavinia stamps.Up for grabs this month is £40 of LS vouchers. The entries so far are outstanding!

Today’s inspiration is very sparkly in person. It’s packed with mica infused ink and glitter from both gold twinkle embossing powder and diamond stickles glitter glue. Everyone loves a bit of sparkle! Pity the camera can’t pick it up!

The stamps used:

Gideon

Echo and drew

Brodwin and maylin

Snow shrub

Half tree 2

Forest scene

The steps:

I always begin by using an A4 sized card sheet and cut it down as the piece develops. On this occasion I used multifarious stamping card. I painted in a circle of drawing gum. This acts as a resist.

Using Spectrum noir sparkle ink in pink, yellow and orange I brushed this across in loose bands on the top half of the card which I had dampened with water. I allowed the colours to bleed and mix.

I removed the gun using an eraser.

The ink was still slightly damp. I stamped the trees using water based distress ink. This blurred and faded into the background creating a hazed effect.

Using parts of the half tree stamp and at different angles I built up branches across the top and left side. I also lightly drew in connecting branches where needed to with a brown pencil. I then stamped the owls on top.

I trimmed the card down and created a hill at the button by inking against torn copy paper.

I stamped the fox on the hill. I added a shadow using pastel pencils and highlights using a stardust gold pen. I darkened the image using a black Stabilo all pencil.

I heat embossed the foilage in the foreground using gold twinkle embossing powder and added some extra stamping in dark red.

Yellow and orange paint pen added glow to the sunset. Touches of yellow were also added to the fox and to the eyes of the owls. I darken the edges of the picture in dark red.

The picture was mounted and glitter added to the buds on the shrubs as a final touch.

Don’t forget to check out the fabulous samples from the rest of the team for more inspiration and of course our friendly Facebook group

Good luck in the challenge!

Join me soon for a video tutorial using more of the new fox stamps in a winter scene!

Till then…
