For today’s inspiration video tutorial I’m combining my love for ink sprays with the ‘blotting out technique’. I adore meadows and flowers so the ‘ spring blooms’ theme is perfect for me! Loads of scope for colourful creativity! And who can resist a cat or two!

I recently discovered you (InkyBliss) on YouTube, while looking up Lavinia Stamps. I binged on your videos before choosing one to try to recreate as a learning exercise. And boy did I learn A LOT – thank you so much! I have attempted to make Curiosity twice now, and thoroughly enjoyed learning the techniques. I do have a question, please. When I stamp the flowers with Versafine Clair, my foreground flowers look dull/faded. It is almost as though the ink is soaking in? My first attempt was on Canson XL watercolor paper, so on the second try I switched to better paper (Strathmore 500 Watercolor 100% cotton). I also used my stamp press on the foreground flowers so I could double stamp them. So the second attempt seemed to improve the foreground vibrancy a little, but the Versafine Clair is still dulling/fading, though not quite as bad as the first try. I was wondering if you had any ideas for preventing this or knew what I’m doing wrong?
Hi first of all thank you so much for your encouraging comment. To answer your question perhaps the card needs dried more thoroughly between stamping layers? The card must be dry after the watercolour background is complete. Also Maybe use a darker colour versafine Clair. Sometimes I go over stamping with a fine liner in parts if I’m not happy with the vibrancy. Layering is the key. Every piece of art will be different -ultimately you must adjust the picture according to what the materials do. It’s very unpredictable that’s the beauty and wonder of the creative journey!
