These folders from Tattered Lace are really fabulous! There are about forty of them and the company does edging dies to compliment them,(one of these was featured in my last post). These products are so handy if you want to add a little something to lift a card. They provide interest and texture and are the perfect size for the Baby Blue die cutting machine using the long plates. They emboss like a dream with one run through the machine (two B plates ).
To make this pretty card you will need:
- White card and DL card blank;
- White vellum;
- Coloured patterned paper;
- Two contrasting Tattered Lace strip embossing folders;
- Fancy frame die- I used one from the Downton abbey range by Crafters Companion;
- Hello die-Spellbinder range;
- Die cut flowers of your choice;
- Pink organza ribbon from embellishment attic;
- Self adhesive pearls, gem stones and dazzler;
- Foam pads and glue.
Firstly, run two strips of vellum through the die cutting machine of your choice using a broad (Moroccan style) embossing strip. Either cut the edges with scissors or use the corresponding edge die if you have it. I didn’t when I made this card. I bought the dies later. Stick the strips, scalloped edges facing out on to the middle of your white card blank.
Lay ribbon length ways down the centre. Stick the ends of the ribbon around the back of the card. An insert can cover this later.
Cut a rectangle of coloured paper, run this through your machine using the other embossing folder adding some texture with the pattern down the centre.Stick it in the middle on top of the ribbon and vellum.
Cut the fancy frame using your die and die cutting machine. Place this on top. I raised it up slightly with foam pads.
Cut the sentiment and adhere this across the middle.
Shape the paper flowers to add height and stick down around the edge of the frame. Add bling in the centres. Place pearls in the corners of the frame.
Finally add a bow at the side of the largest flower or, wherever you fancy!
Here are a few more examples using the strips. You can see that they look good being inked too.
This is what it would look like without… You decide!
And finally, another example.
