Its a mixed media piece. The main colouring medium is Royal Talens acrylic paint. The ink is black versafine. I’ve also used Amsterdam acrylic pens and some Stabilo pastels. The splatters were made using Royal Talens acrylic ink. You can’t tell very well from the photo but the humming bird is glittered using diamond stickles.

Here are a few close ups . Firstly, the bird. I painted the area in white acrylic and then stamped on top. I highlighted using acrylic pens (including white) and glitter glue.

I wanted to create the feeling of energy and motion so I placed the bird against a pale blue background and doodled some circles freehand at the edges of the wings as a backdrop to the stamps. I blended in some pastel pencil to lighten these areas.

To create texture I used the stencil and then did a little stamping in black ink using my favourite script stamp. It’s the best script design ever! … and I’ve used a lot!!

I acheived the best effect with the stencil by putting down block dark colour first and then paler tones through the stencil.

Finally I stamped the sentiment onto lilac card and cut out the words for adding to the project.

Hope you like it!
