River view

Yes it’s mid month again! Still Time for a Creative challenge at Lavinia . Up for grabs this month is £40 of Lavinia stamps vouchers. The theme is ‘create your own dream’ Really anything goes so get all those stamps out and have a play! Some excellent entries so far!

For my mid month dream I’ve got a little scene by the river with brightly coloured house and fairy buds.

For my little scene I used the following stamps:

Harrieta’s house

Fairy buds

Zen Angelic words

Here are the steps:

An inky background using a mixture of distress ink sprays and distress oxide sprays. I’ve also used a touch of luster ink spray. The ink combination when allowed to drip created an interesting effect. Almost like trees.

Then used torn copy paper and inks to create a bank and space for the water.

I stamped the main images using the copy paper to mask the bottom of the stamps where appropriate.

I Painted over the images using white gesso. Then added basic background colour before over stamping again. When stamped I added the final touches of detail colour using watercolour pens. I also darkened the riverbank using Stabilo pastel pencils and posca paint pens. Shadows to the water area were added and I used my pastels to reflect the colours of the background in the water area.

I decided to shorten the foreground and use block colour and word stamping for extra interest. The block colour was distress oxide ink. I stamped the words several times in different colours. I also added touches of paint pen to the water in blue and yellow and dots and flowers to the bank. Obviously finished with a little diamond stickles.

Close ups:

I hope you can join us for the challenge.

    1. Thanks Lisa! Not usually. A lot of it goes to the arts and craft tv channels or shops and trade shows. I’ve been asked that a lot lately so maybe I’ll start! Thank you. X
