How you know when to keep the contrast but when to blend in colors is fascinating. Like the shadow of one fox is leaning one direction and the other fox has his shadow going the other. They are on two different sides of the moon I guess.
Yes I think the shadow direction is dictated by where they are in comparison with the light source. But when all is said and done just a little shadow under the feet to hint at shading does the trick. Strictly speaking I should have curved the shapes more as that’s what happens over snow!
