Abstract landscape (bees)

Hello friends! I’m back with something a little different from my usual projects.

When I did my abstract floral cards video recently it got me thinking about the possibility of using my gel press for a landscape painting.

This was an experimental session for me very much feeling my way and certainly outside of my comfort zone in terms of control. I used my gel press to create base prints upon which I was able to build the layers by combining the print with some rough sponge and finger painting!

It’s certainly no use me telling all of you to be brave on your creative adventures if I don’t take my own advice!

The painting took a few odd turns and it certainly took a little while for me to get a feel for the print placement etc but I must say it was a lot of fun! I completed the painting with minimal stamping of the bees. These are great little stamps. But the abstract landscape didn’t necessarily require stamping.

You may find the video tutorial Here

The painting is for sale and can be found in my shop Here

I did enjoy this project and using acrylic paints again. The great thing of course is that if you don’t like a layer you can dry it and print again on top!

I have lots of ideas for other landscapes using the gel press so you may see more printing from me from time to time.

I hope you have a creative week!

Until next time, much love, Lisa xx
