Buzzing around

Today’s offering is the first of a trio of cards featuring the pretty Majestic Larkspur die from Tattered Lace. As usual I was messing around with some inky backgrounds and thought for a simple card this die would be perfect. So, with a little experimenting you can see what can be achieved using slightly different colour effects all achieved from the same inky mediums and a couple of extra little dies.

Here’s what we are making: Card one.

Here’s what you will need.

I also used a black A5 card blank, some water colour paper, adhesive and foam pads, oh and a tiny piece of black glitter card for the butterfly.

To begin, on the water colour paper I sprinkled my brusho and pixie powder pigments and spritzed with a water mister. I did this a few times, dried the paper and set aside.I got a combination of reds and peaches with different textures.

I selected a part of the inked paper with red/pink tones that I liked and cut a rectangle. I then selected some complimentary patterned paper in yellow. I darkened the edges of the inked card with red distress ink and red alcohol marker. I matted and layered the paper and card together, edging them in black. I used foam pads to attach the inked card.I attached the layers to the black card blank.

Next I die cut the flowers in white a few times along with the bumble bee, thank you sentiment and butterfly in black. The bee was paper pieced  with some of the left over yellow paper and glittered with diamond stickles. I then edged the flower die cuts in yellow.

I then arranged the die cuts on to the inked background and stuck down, glittering the inside of the flower buds. I raised the bees on foam pads. To mirror the swirls on the sentiment I added black gems to suggest the movement of the bees.
