It’s monthly challenge time again at Lavinia stamps. With the very tempting theme of pinks purples and blues. You could be the lucky winner of £40 of LS vouchers!!!
For my inspiration with the pinks blues and purple theme, this month I decided to create a night time scene in a sleepy little fairy settlement.
I used the following stamps:
I began with my usual white card which had been used to mop up dylusion ink sprays. It was quite dark blues with a streak of pink. I sprinkled a little water and began to create a background.
When you can’t use masking fluid for your main foreground images a good trick is to stamp them. Paint the space with white gesso and then overstamp. This provides a solid surface for dimentional colouring.
I used torn paper as masks and versa clair ink to ground the images and create context. I also used a water brush to remove some of the original ink to create a path.
I used the tips of the celestial tree to create shrubbery. However, I wasn’t happy with the dark area at the front so I decided to create a softer misty look by using distress oxide and white pigment ink. I then re added the shrubbery on top. I had a small white space at the top corner of the page so I decided to create a moon peeking on to the scene to provide a light source . After the houses were coloured using the zig clean colour water colour pens I decided that they were not dark enough so I added Stabilo all pencil down the left hand sides for a more dramatic look.
Of course I added some white gel pen highlights and holographic glitter to the roof of the largest house and parts of the sky. It really twinkles!
I hope you will join the challenge. Our theme colours are some of my favourites!
Till next time …
