Gratitude

Well they tell me that Spring has officially arrived… no sign here I’m afraid. As I write I’m watching the heavy rain pour down and it’s still quite cold. Oh well!

The good news is that we can escape and create our own Spring. That was what I hoped to achieve with this week’s project. I also wanted to provide some inspiration for Easter projects. This painting provides the type of landscape where you could easily include a few hidden Easter eggs. Maybe that is what the little rabbits are looking for!

I also was sent a paint set to review from an art supply company called Lightwish. They say that they aim to provide good quality products at affordable prices. I wasn’t paid to do the review but I know that many of my subscribers struggle to gather all the mixed media supplies due to cost, so I thought that I would see if the paints were any good. You can find the video tutorial including the review Here.

I think that the 88 colour watercolour paint set offers a wide range of bright colours including metallic and fluorescent finishes. It mixes well with other media and is therefore a good mixed media choice. It is also reasonably priced compared to smaller more expensive sets. It’s a fun set and has a small footprint on my craft Matt.

However, I think that I prefer the kuretake watercolour paints for pure watercolour paintings. I think the kuretake paints mix and blend better on the card and layer better. The Lightwish set are a little more textured and slightly grainy which may be better suited to having a refining layer of soft pastel on top. I don’t mind this as I often do this. Also I suspect the paints may become creamier with more use. This was their first outing and I stress I am not a professional watercolour artist. I’m a mixed media artist. I hope this is helpful.

As ever, thank you so much for all your kind support in all the forms it takes.

So in the meantime, enjoy your week, rain or shine!

Love, Lisa xx
